Biography

Dr. Huang is an associate professor of School of Cyber Science and Engineering at Zhengzhou University (ZZU). He is the deputy director of the Department of Cryptographic Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. degree in School of Electronic Information and Communications from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2021, supervised by Prof. Wei Wang. His research is concerned with network security and wireless sensing. His papers have appeared in several premier journals and top conferences, such as IEEE TMC, IEEE TWC, IEEE/ACM TON, and IEEE INFOCOM, USENIX Security.


Research

Dr. Huang’s research focuses on security, sensing, and their intersection within the Internet of Things (IoT), which is increasingly integrating physical world, cyberspace, and human society together.
He heads a research group, namely PHY Group, which seeks to develop innovative model-driven and data-driven approaches for Physical-layer security, Side-cHannel analysis, and Network traffic analYsis. Accordingly, the core objectives of PHY Group span three distinct but interconnected areas:

  • Physical-layer security for open wireless networks, where conventional upper-layer encryption is exposed to widespread risks of key leakage
  • Side-channel analysis for any medium that may contain unpatched physical leakage vulnerabilities
  • Network traffic analysis for modern encrypted heterogeneous networks, where conventional signature-based detection techniques are becoming ineffective

Dr. Huang is looking for new graduate students (M.S. students) and undergraduate interns to work on exciting research projects!

  • Candidates are expected to be highly motivated and resilient against pressure. Also, they should have a solid background in computer science, electrical engineering, or mathematics.
  • Graduate students will have access to research-related software and hardware resources. Attendance at international academic conferences is highly encouraged and fully sponsored. Twice the monthly stipend stipulated by ZZU is provided per month.
  • Top-notch undergraduate students with rich system implementation experience and/or strong mathematical skills are preferred.
